Client: Petrobras
Location: Brazil (onshore)

In an onshore Brazilian gas field a decision was made to change the well design to a tubingless well design. The introduction of the new design produced a significant reduction of the well construction costs.

The Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) questioned the well design in terms of the well integrity, and the operator had to stop the drilling of further wells until it can be documented that the well life cycle integrity is at an acceptable level.

Exprosoft was requested to propose a study with the objective to document the well life cycle integrity for the tubingless well design.

Exprosoft reviewed the risk through the well life. The WellMaster well reliability data was an important input to the study. A report was written and the findings were presented in a workshop in Brazil with the ANP, the operator and several other interested parties were present.

The operator is now using drilling and completing tubingless wells in the field.
